Love Not War
This week, Our Skova Girl takes a break from the hustle and bustle of designing and traveling to focus on an issue she takes seriously and is close to her heart. She is focused on the victims of international war violence. California may be a long way from any war zone, however our tax dollars and votes are not. We can no longer remain ignorant — especially living in a country where we are encouraged to speak out and vote. This is why Skova Girl has designed the Love Not War scarf.
Woven from fine silk, the Love Not War scarf makes a bold statement and serves as a reminder of the seemingly endless conflicts around the globe. Bold red roses and a stark, black automatic weapon sit on a background of delicate gold. This scarf is not only wearable art — a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this scarf will go to Voices for Creative Nonviolence (VCNV), a nonprofit organization which tracks U.S. conflict worldwide with a mission to peacefully end violence.
VCNV's primary goal is to alleviate the burden of the people affected by American war violence through passive conflict resolving and creative means. VCNV aims to empower refugees through education, discussion, and journalism.
