Boho Chic Wedding

Recently I was honored by Kelly, one of my best friends, when she asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. Kelly is a beautiful and genuine soul, and to be at her side for one of the most important moments of her life was a blessing. This was such an enchanted and romantic weekend on the charming Outer Banks, classically chic and Bohemian.

This incredible event was held on Roanoke Island in North Carolina’s Outer Banks in a town called Manteo. Manteo offers visitors fine and casual dining, unique boutiques, marinas with stunning sailboats, and a nature reserve called Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. An exquisite affair, Kelly’s glowing beauty radiated — she really was a picture-perfect bride. Prior to the wedding, Kelly, her maid of honor, and us bridesmaids were treated to a spa day of pampering, then full makeup and hair service. We dressed and prepped for the event at the First Colony Inn, took photographs, then boarded a trolley from the Inn to a lush field for the ceremony. The bridal party walked along a boardwalk for the service, where we were surrounded by verdant wetland flora and the sound of the Atlantic surf.

After the service we re-boarded the trolley for the reception which took place in a field surrounded by a lush pecan grove. The decor and food represented the bride and groom perfectly! So chic and Bohemian, the decor utilized natural fibers, wood and glass. Food trucks served heavenly cocktails, and we dined on buffet-style on thoughtfully prepared organic fare, and dined al fresco. After dinner we all danced outside and partied under the stars, and were served one of the most delightful wedding cakes I’ve ever had thus far.
