Rancho Valencia Escape
The all-suite Rancho Valencia Resort opened in 1989 in a bougainvillea-and-hibiscus-filled canyon 25 miles north of San Diego lies the all-suite Rancho Valencia Resort. This resort opened in 1989 in a bougainvillea and hibiscus-filled canyon and remains southern California’s only Relais & Château property. A recent $30 million renovation added two restaurants, bar, a yoga pavilion, an expanded fitness center with more than 75 classes weekly (including an award-winning tennis program), and the Amala organic skincare line. Rancho Valencia’s 10,000-square-foot spa has one goal—pure pampering. Overlooking a courtyard with a serenity fountain, couples can partake of a variety of treatments including aromatic baths and terra-cotta clay bakes.

A mini-getaway from home, Rancho Valencia has been one of my favorite spots in San Diego. One of southern California’s best secrets, this is my go-to spot for time off from my busy work schedule. I take time to focus on me, enjoy spa time, practice yoga, catch up on reading, and most importantly, I turn off my phone and disconnect from the world. I also absolutely love the fact this resort is also dog friendly, they have an exquisite dog food menu for your little furry friends!
